Welcome
Welcome to my website, StephenHendrix.com. I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computing at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. I hold a PhD in Information Systems from Dakota State University, along with a BS and MS in Computer and Information Sciences and an MBA from East Tennessee State University. Having previously served 8 years as an Adjunct Instructor for CSCI 1710 Essentials of Web Development, I began teaching full-time in Fall 2013, instructing MGMT 3220 Management Information Systems and CSCI 1710 Essentials of Web Development.
Before my current position, I worked as a Business Systems Analyst II for Mountain States Health Alliance in Johnson City, TN. My duties included system support for medical records and coding (Siemens EDM, 3M HDM, 3M CAC), system implementation for MSHA's Health Information Exchange, and site design and system support for Microsoft SharePoint.
Most of the early years of my career were spent working with the Upward Bound program at ETSU. In my 7+ years of full-time employment with Upward Bound, I started as an Interim Counselor and advanced to Assistant Director for the 3 Upward Bound programs. During my tenure with TRiO, I took on various leadership positions with the Tennessee Association of Special Programs (TASP) and Southeastern Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (SAEOPP).
I am married to my beautiful wife Valerie, a 2011 ETSU graduate and loving stay-at-home mother. Our romance began in Fall 2005 when we were both members of a college ministry called The Well. We were married in 2007 at Central Christian Church. We are blessed with two wonderful daughters, Hailey and Brooklyn.
I have been incredibly blessed throughout my life with amazing opportunities. From my experiences as a student in the Upward Bound program at ETSU to my current role as Assistant Professor, each journey God presents in my life has helped fuel my passion for family, for all things geeky, for my students, and ultimately for Him.
Feel free to navigate through my website to learn more about me. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to send me an email. Have a blessed day, and may God bless your day.
